From the fresh tastes of the traditional community street-market…
… to modern gastronomy, inspired by tradition, crafted by a chef.
This tour is divided into two parts: Tianguis and restaurant.
We begin this tour at a tianguis – a weekly open-air market.Wandering through the tianguis, you’ll try fresh produce that, for the most part, is still grown using sustainable agricultural practices.
Then, some antojitos – corn-based snacks which you’ll enjoy topped with/containing various plant-foods indigenous to Mexico. You’ll be surprised how many choices there are!
Having built up a little bit of produce-knowledge and whetted the appetite, we’ll take a short walk to a restaurant where the chef has a particular passion for regional herbs and plant foods. It’s important to note this will not be a “vegan” or “vegetarian” restaurant, but higher-end “Cocina Mexicana” where plant foods are valued as centre-stage ingredients. (There are 3-4 possible restaurants on the roster and the choice will depend on seating availability the day of the tour/advance notice)
This tour suits plant-food lovers of all persuasions –vegetarians, vegans and omnivores alike
